Forgot to tell, that at some point after Waterton lake we stop by some town to fix windshields. Somehow it got out of the gasket (even before I bought it) and as
most attentive readers noticed the front of the bus is always covered with duck tape. Finally we found a place to fix them and it took whole day and $500.
Two days later we got a nice rock in the windshild on one of many gravel parts of the road where people driving like crazy. Very disappointing.
By the way most of pictures in the report are from Dima – doesn’t make much sense to post my pics comparing to panorama master 🙂
Rest of Alberta and side of British Columbia we passed through in a smoke but it got better in Yukon. We weren’t planning to stay here long but ended up spending 2 full days – hiking Kings Throne peak and flying around glaciers on a plane in Kluane national park where the highest canadian peak Logan is located and one of the biggest glaciers 3 miles wide (didn’t believe it so double checked on google maps.
Right on Yukon border there is a small town Watson lake, where we refilled with diesel and also checked out local sight – Sign Post forest (60.063215, -128.713909). Lots of photos to show how big is it.
We didn’t go to the Nááts’įhch’oh National Park Reserve mearby since we coudn’t say that anyways 🙂
What I like very much about traveling on a motorhome is the landscape around you all the time – you can stop pretty much anywhere and it’s awesome 🙂
There are as many bears as in Alberta and they are just walking around. BTW we have seen not just bears 🙂
Almost 400 miles from Sign forest to Haines Junction, famous for it’s visitor center with good internet and access to lakes, glaciers and mountaing of Kluane park. Also there is an airport to fly around.
We found out all the info about tours and booked a flight for Dima. It was fairly expensive so I decided to spend some time fixing small things in a bus.
In the morning we moved to the parking lot by Kathleen lake.
There is a thing in Canadian park – somewhere there are hidden red wooden chair and it’s a good luck to sit in all of them. Dima didn’t like just sitting in it 🙂
The trail to Kings Throne Peak starts right from the parking lot and although it was very cloudy we took it.
Dima loves that kind of weather for photography – it’s more dramatic views he said. Somehow he ignores the fact that it’s cold and wet. As soon as we got up to the mountain at about 6500 ft it started raining and it was ice cold. I had a raincoat but for no reason didn’t put it on, so we ran and jumped around for an hour to get warmer. Shaking hands didn’t help for taking pictures but we still got some.
As soon as we done we quickly left back to the motorhome to get some hot cocoa. What surprises me in my trip that I don’t get sick. I can get cold just by sitting comfortably in front of my computer, but here under icy rain and crazy wind in a mountains – feeling great.
Next mornign as we planned we got to the airport and agreed wiht pilot that Dima will sit in the back, where there is a single seat and windows can be opened. While another couple was busy with a paperwork pilot quietly told us that plane is going anyways and there is an empty seat, so I can join and then pay whatever I thought it was worth. Left the bus and got in the sky.
The inexpressible beauty of snow-capped peaks, glaciers and dazzling blue ice lakes opened in front of us. I couldn’t really take pictures because of glare on the window and wings, also the propeller of the plane, so again thank you very much Dima for the pictures!

Landed, got some lunch and finally left to ALASKA!!! 🙂
Got another adventure on a way – during a walk around on next stop I noticed a flat rear tire and a screw in it. Fixed it with repair kit which held for almost 2,000 miles! 🙂
